If you’re like so many people who have wished for the day where your car could drive itself, that dream is becoming reality thanks to Ford. This year, BlueCruise hands-free driving debuts on the all-new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150. And to make sure that it’s up for the challenge, Ford has tested the tech on plenty of adventures.
In 2020, Ford set 10 vehicles equipped with BlueCruise out on what it calls the “mother of all road trips.” Five F-150 trucks and five Mustang Mach-E EVs covered a combined 110,000 miles across 37 states and five Canadian provinces. The results show that the hands-dree driving system can adapt to the real world and eliminate stress from your driving experience.
“There are highway intricacies and driving conditions that you simply cannot replicate in a lab,” said Ford Chief Product Platform and Operations Officer Hau Thai-Tang. “Sending these vehicles out for real-world driving experience is just one of many ways we ensured that BlueCruise technology offers confidence and convenience for drivers all across the continent.”
BlueCruise hands-free will work on more than 100,000 miles of dedicated Hands-Free Blue Zones across North America. When you reach one of these zones, your vehicle will notify you that you can engage the system and remove your hands from the wheel.
Ford says that BlueCruise will launch later this year on all-new F-150 and Mustang Mach-E models equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Active 2.0 Prep Package. The software needed is easily and quickly installed with Ford Power-Up over-the-air updates.

Summer is upon us, and the warmer weather means plenty of opportunities for family road trips in Kansas and beyond. When preparing for that long-awaited vacation, over-packing is an easy mistake to make. Here are a few tips to help you pack light on your next road trip.
Know the weather
Before you begin filling your suitcase with piles of clothes, check the weather forecast for the places you’ll be driving through. Knowing the weather will help you decide what kind of clothing to bring along, and what can stay behind.
Be selective about your toiletries
Depending on where you’re traveling, packing things like toothpaste, shampoo, soap, deodorant, and hand towels isn’t necessary. Most hotels supply these items, and they can usually be purchased at rest stops. Pack only your most-essential toiletries and put them in a zip-top bag for safe keeping.
Roll your clothing
This easy trick allows you to fit more clothing in a small bag. Rolled clothes take up less space than folded ones, giving you more room for your other items.
Make a checklist of essential items
When heading out on a road trip, there are several essential items that you’ll want to make sure you bring along. Phone chargers, any medication, books, light footwear like flip-flops and sandals, and a bit of physical cash are all worth having while traveling.
